Book your appointmentA tummy tuck removes loose skin and excess fat from the abdomen, repairs rectus diastasis (muscle separation after pregnancy or bariatric surgery) and restores a firm shape to the abdominal wall. It is the surgery with the greatest impact on the silhouette after multiple pregnancies or major weight loss.
* Reference, variable price: this is not a fixed price or set rate and may vary entirely depending on the medical evaluation, the recommended technique, the implants or materials, operating room time and the complexity of each case. The exact amount is confirmed after your assessment with Dr. Martínez.
What is a tummy tuck?
It's the surgery that rebuilds the abdominal wall. Unlike liposuction (which only removes fat), a tummy tuck removes excess skin, repairs separated rectus abdominis muscles and repositions the belly button. It is mainly indicated for:
- Women after multiple pregnancies with diastasis
- Post-bariatric patients with sagging skin
- Patients with significant weight loss (>20 kg)
- Severe abdominal aging with marked laxity
Types of tummy tuck
- Mini tummy tuck: lower third only, short 8-12 cm scar, no belly button repositioning. Indicated when laxity is limited to the pubic area.
- Full tummy tuck: the most common. Hip-to-hip transverse scar hidden under the bikini line; repositions the navel and repairs diastasis.
- Circumferential tummy tuck: for post-bariatric patients with loose skin on the flanks and back. Circumferential scar around the torso.
- Lipoabdominoplasty: combines HD liposculpture + tummy tuck. A more sculpted result with muscle definition.
Rectus diastasis: why it matters
Diastasis is the separation of the rectus abdominis muscles due to pregnancy or sudden weight gain. It is responsible for the “protruding belly” that doesn't go away with exercise. A tummy tuck repairs the diastasis by suturing the muscles to the midline: the result is a flat, functional abdomen, not just an aesthetic one.
Post-op and recovery
- Day 0-3: 24-hour hospital stay, compression garment 24/7, drains for 3-5 days
- Day 4-10: follow-up for drain removal, walking hunched over
- Weeks 2-3: stitches removed, back to the office
- Weeks 3-6: light cardio, compression garment 18 h/day
- Months 2-3: back to the gym (cardio before ab work)
- Months 6-12: pale, mature scar; stable final result
When is it worth combining it with other procedures?
A tummy tuck is often combined with other procedures to enhance results:
- + HD Liposculpture: defines the waist, flanks and back (lipoabdominoplasty)
- + Breast augmentation or lift: mommy makeover, restores your full post-pregnancy contour
- + Buttock fat transfer (BBL): a complete silhouette redesign
If your abdomen changed after one or more pregnancies, many patients combine this surgery with liposuction and breast surgery in a Mommy Makeover in Lima, addressing everything in a single procedure.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a tummy tuck cost in Lima?
At Dr. Martínez's practice it costs from S/ 15,500 (≈ $4,200 USD). It includes surgeon's fees, anesthesiologist, accredited operating room, 24-hour hospital stay, compression garment, pre-op tests and 6 months of follow-up.
Does a tummy tuck make you lose weight?
No. It is not a weight-loss treatment. It is performed once you are at your stable weight. What it removes (3-5 kg on average) is excess skin + local fat, not visceral fat. The gain is in silhouette and firmness, not on the scale.
When will I see the final result?
A first glimpse at 3 weeks (when acute swelling goes down), the true result at 3-4 months and the stable final result at 6-12 months, when the scar matures and the skin finishes retracting.
Is the scar noticeable?
The horizontal scar is hidden under your bikini or underwear. At 12-18 months it becomes pale and almost imperceptible if you care for it with silicone and sunscreen.
Can I get pregnant afterwards?
Yes, but ideally wait at least 1 year after surgery. A later pregnancy can undo the result (the diastasis may reappear), so it is recommended to complete your family planning first.
When can I go back to the gym?
Walking from day 2-3. Light cardio at 4-6 weeks. Upper-body weights at 6 weeks. Ab exercises only at 3 months (earlier puts the muscle repair at risk).
Is it very painful?
Post-operative pain is moderate, especially in the first 3-5 days. It's well controlled with oral pain medication and, in the first 24 hours, with PCA pumps. It drops substantially after the first week.

The garments you will need after surgery
Post-op compression isn't an accessory: it helps control swelling, helps the skin adhere properly and protects your leg circulation while you rest. It's best to buy your garments before surgery, not the day after.
Post-op body shaper with hooks — S/ 250. Graduated compression with front hooks for progressive adjustment, so you can tighten it as swelling goes down. In black and nude, sizes M, L and XL.
Post-op anti-embolism stockings — S/ 120. Graduated compression, stronger at the ankle and lighter going up, to support venous return and reduce the risk of thrombosis during and after surgery. One standard size.
Delivery in 24 to 72 hours within Metropolitan Lima and 3 to 7 business days to other regions, with size exchanges within 7 days of delivery. The final size is confirmed based on each patient's medical evaluation: message us on WhatsApp at 912 052 479 and we'll guide you before you buy.
