How much does liposuction cost in Peru?

It's the first question almost every patient asks, so we'll answer it upfront: in Lima, with Dr. Martínez, liposuction costs from $3,800 USD (approximately S/ 14,000). That amount is the starting point for a procedure performed at an accredited clinic, with an anesthesiologist and operating room.

The price is a reference price and is confirmed at your personalized medical evaluation with Dr. Martínez (CMP 42467 · RNE 20164), depending on the technique and complexity of each case. How many areas are treated, skin quality and overall health are the factors that drive the final cost. That's why we don't quote a surgery over the phone without examining the patient.

You can see the other procedures on our prices page. The evaluation consultation includes a physical exam, a review of your medical history and a written surgical proposal with the confirmed price for your case.

What liposuction is, and what it isn't

Liposuction is a body contouring procedure: through tiny incisions, cannulas are inserted to suction subcutaneous fat from specific areas. It is performed under general anesthesia and, depending on the number of areas, takes between 2 and 4 hours.

It is not a weight-loss treatment, nor a substitute for diet or exercise. It also does not correct loose skin or stretch marks, and it does not remove cellulite. A patient with obesity is not a candidate for liposuction: she must first reach a stable weight close to her ideal.

Areas that can be treated

  • Abdomen: upper, lower or full; it is the most requested area.
  • Flanks and waist: the so-called "love handles."
  • Back: bra-line folds and upper back.
  • Arms: the back of the arm, between the armpit and elbow.
  • Thighs: inner and outer (banana roll).
  • Double chin and neck: submental liposuction, with a shorter recovery.
  • 360° Lipo: abdomen + flanks + back in a single surgery, when your anatomy allows.

Liposuction, HD liposculpture and male HD liposuction

They are different techniques and should not be confused, because the indication depends on your anatomy and your goal:

  • Liposuction: removes localized fat and refines the silhouette. It is the most common indication and what most patients are looking for.
  • HD Liposculpture: besides removing fat, it sculpts muscle contours (linea alba, obliques, serratus). It requires existing muscle mass and a low BMI; it is not for everyone.
  • Male HD liposuction: adapts the marking to male anatomy, with emphasis on the abdomen, flanks and chest border.

During your consultation, Dr. Martínez will tell you which one is right for your case. It's common for a patient to come in asking for HD lipo and be recommended conventional liposuction (or vice versa), simply because her anatomy calls for it.

Who is a candidate?

  • Stable weight close to your ideal weight (ideally BMI under 30).
  • Localized fat that resists diet and exercise.
  • Skin with good elasticity, without marked laxity.
  • Good health, with no uncontrolled illnesses or clotting disorders.
  • Non-smoker, or quitting tobacco at least 4 weeks before and after.
  • Realistic expectations: liposuction improves contour; it does not completely transform the body.

If, in addition to fat, there is abdominal laxity or diastasis recti (common after pregnancy), liposuction alone is not enough and you will probably need a tummy tuck, alone or combined. This is determined during the physical exam.

How the procedure works, step by step

  • Pre-op evaluation: consultation, physical exam, pre-operative tests and surgical risk assessment.
  • Marking: on the day of surgery, the areas are marked while you stand, fully awake.
  • Surgery: 3 to 5 mm incisions in natural creases, tumescent infiltration and suction with cannulas.
  • Discharge: observation at the clinic; depending on the case, same-day discharge or an overnight hospital stay.
  • Follow-up visits: scheduled follow-up with Dr. Martínez.

Recovery: what to really expect

  • Days 0 to 3: intense muscle-type pain, controlled with the prescribed pain medication. Compression garment worn at all times.
  • Days 4 to 10: peak swelling and bruising. Lymphatic drainage begins as medically indicated.
  • Weeks 2 to 4: most patients return to office work. Compression garment most of the day. No physical exertion.
  • Months 1 to 3: gradual return to exercise, always with medical clearance.
  • Months 3 to 6: deep swelling subsides and only then can the real result be seen.

Swelling in the first few months is normal and makes many patients worry that “it didn't work.” The final result shouldn't be judged before 6 months.

Risks and complications

Liposuction is major surgery and, like any surgery, it carries risks that should be discussed before signing an informed consent: bruising, seromas, infection, changes in sensation, contour irregularities, asymmetry, hypertrophic scars, reactions to anesthesia and, rarely but seriously, thromboembolic events.

The risk is reduced —not eliminated— by choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon and an accredited clinic, respecting safe suction volumes and strictly following post-operative instructions. No serious professional can guarantee you a result or a complication-free recovery.

Frequently asked questions

How much does liposuction cost in Peru?

With Dr. Martínez in Lima, liposuction starts from $3,800 USD (≈ S/ 14,000). The price is a reference and is confirmed during the personalized medical evaluation with Dr. Martínez (CMP 42467 · RNE 20164), based on the technique and complexity of each case.

What does the price of lipo depend on?

It depends on the number of areas to treat, the technique indicated, the surgical time and the complexity of each case. An abdomen alone doesn't cost the same as a 360° lipo. That's why the exact amount is given only after the physical exam, never over the phone.

Does liposuction help you lose weight?

No. It is a contouring surgery, not a weight-loss surgery. It is indicated for people with a stable weight who have localized fat that resists diet and exercise. If the goal is to lose a lot of weight, nutritional and medical management comes first.

How much rest do I need?

Most patients with office jobs return to work between 10 and 14 days. Exercise is resumed gradually from the first month, always with medical clearance. The compression garment is worn for several weeks as instructed.

Are the scars noticeable?

The incisions measure between 3 and 5 mm and are placed in natural folds. Over time and with the recommended care (silicone, sun protection) they usually become barely visible, although healing is individual and an identical result cannot be guaranteed for every patient.

Does fat come back after liposuction?

The fat cells removed do not regenerate, but the ones that remain can grow larger if you gain weight. Maintaining the result requires a stable weight, a proper diet and regular physical activity.

The garments you will need after your liposuction

Post-op compression isn't an accessory: it helps control swelling, helps the skin adhere properly and protects your leg circulation while you rest. It's best to buy your garments before surgery, not the day after.

Post-op body shaper with hooks — S/ 250. Graduated compression with front hooks for progressive adjustment, so you can tighten it as swelling goes down. In black and nude, sizes M, L and XL.

Post-op anti-embolism stockings — S/ 120. Graduated compression, stronger at the ankle and lighter going up, to support venous return and reduce the risk of thrombosis during and after surgery. One standard size.

Delivery in 24 to 72 hours within Metropolitan Lima and 3 to 7 business days to other regions, with size exchanges within 7 days of delivery. The final size is confirmed based on each patient's medical evaluation: message us on WhatsApp at 912 052 479 and we'll guide you before you buy.
